Helen Gorick studied metal smithing and jewellery at college, and has been in and out of the contemporary jewellery trade for more than 20 years. During 2007 she discovered lampworking – the art of melting coloured rods of glass using a flame, then manipulating it into various objects. She has taken master classes with several lampwork artists from around the world and it has been her fulltime occupation since 2008.
Much of Helen’s work demonstrates her love of symmetry and bright colours, she layers the glass to give lots of depth to her designs and is known within the industry for her precision. Although only small, some of her art beads can take in excess of 3 hours to produce and result in completely unique pieces. In April of 2014 she was delighted to be one of the 4 guest artists at the UK Flame Off, the biggest event of its kind in Europe. She has written tutorials for national magazines and had her work featured in several books.
Helen teaches lampwork and Silversmithing from her East Devon studio and she offers a range of tuition packages to suit all.
